Objective(s): During menopausal period, women experience many symptoms, and most lack adequate knowledge to manage these symptoms. The present study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of two health education interventions on psychological well-being of menopausal women.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 72 menopausal women referred to healthcare centers affiliated with Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), Tehran, Iran in 2022-2023. The cluster sampling was used. Then eligible participants were randomly divided into two interventions and control groups. The intervention groups received necessary education from the website and the control groups received it through a booklet (based on ministry guidelines) during 4 weeks. The data were collected via demographic and Riff psychological well-being questionnaires before, immediately, and one month after intervention; Data were analyzed using independent t-test and repeated measures analysis. The significance level was considered less than 0.05.
Results: The mean total score of well-being increased immediately after the intervention compared to before, in all groups (p=0.006). Results showed a significant difference in the well-being score between two times, before and immediately after education (P=0.004), and also before and one month after education(P=0.016). Although the well-being score increased immediately after education in all groups, the score decreased one month after education among web-based groups.
Conclusion: Health education through web-based and booklet methods effectively promoted the psychological well-being of menopausal women. It seems implementing any of these methods in the care and support program of menopausal women seems helpful.
