Dear Editor,
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, dengue fever, one of the most important mosquito-borne viral diseases, has become a serious public health challenge in many countries around the world in recent years. Transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, this disease is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. Iran is also at risk of spreading this disease despite being located in a region with a predominantly arid and semi-arid climate. Recent reports of local cases of dengue fever in Hormozgan province, especially in Bandar Lengeh city, are a wake-up call for the country’s health system. Dengue fever is an emerging threat to public health in Iran that requires urgent and coordinated action. Controlling this disease requires the participation of all sectors of society, including the government, health institutions, and the public.
