Abstract:   (86 Views)
Objective (s): Infertility is one of the common problems in societies, and in 50% of cases, men are the cause. Unfortunately, most infertile men do not express their problems, and this affects their quality of life. This study was conducted to investigate the quality of life in infertile men and its associated factors.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 150 infertile men in Hazrat Maryam Infertility Treatment Center in Sari which is one of the largest infertility centers in northern Iran using demographic questionnaires and the 26-question WHOQOL-BREF. Infertile men who met the inclusion criteria were selected using convenience sampling. Descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and analytical statistics (correlation and multiple linear regression) were used to analyze the data through SPSS version 29.
Results: The overall quality of life score of infertile men was 69.25±5.62%, and in terms of physical health (75.45±4.32), social relationships (72.87±9.68), environmental health (64.56±8.65), and mental health (61.12±9.32), respectively. Multiple linear regression showed that the man's education, wife's education, man's age, income, duration of marriage, and duration of infertility are predictors of the quality of life of infertile men.
Conclusion: The quality of life of infertile men is an important issue that must be considered and appropriate planning should be carried out by countries based on their cultural context to improve the quality of life of men. It is suggested that the quality of life of infertile men and infertile couples be assessed in infertility treatment care, and special attention be given to mental and environmental health.
