Objective(s): To assess mental health in students in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: In all 516 students (457 female, 59 male) responded to the 28 items General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). In order to indicate severe mental health disorders in students, for the general scale score of 23 and for the subscales score of 14 were used as cut-off points.
Results: The results indicated that 11.8% of students suffered from mental health disorders. The rates in associated degree (AD) students; BS students and MD students were 14.3%, 6.9% and 6.2% respectively. Mental health disorders prevalence was 3.4% for men and 12.9% for women.
Conclusion: In general, severe mental health in medical students was found to be low.
